KD showroom/showcase at UEL

(launched 12/06)

After the move of MAGIC from CSM to UEL, they asked me to create an interface to display / showcase the different departments in the knowledge dock (facilitating the link between business and academia).

This project was part of the promotion of the new site of uel in the docklands, which also included a promotional video.
The installation is set in the showroom at knowledge dock, and is running on two touchscreens kiosks which are linked to plasma screens fixed on the walls.

With all the footage available, the main issue for the client was to structure the content. I would have prefered the navigation to be less clustered around two main sections. As a result, I created a cross scrolling (vertical and horizontal) in order to navigate through the content and still have good access to other content.

The whole structure is updatable via a single xml file, that defines the groups, items, and location of the images and video files to play.
The interface has been through intensive user testing and seems intuitively understood, and is taylormade for the touch/plasma screen combination, as they use different formats (5:4 and 16:9).
